MANGALURU: A 52- year-old migrant labourer from Gadag went missing after the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results for Covid-19, taken by him, was positive.
He told the health department officials of the Puttur city municipal council that he had purchased two bottles of liquor and if admitted to the hospital, then he would not be allowed to drink, due to which he fled from the spot.
Shwetha Kiran, senior health inspector, Puttur city municipal council, told TOI that due to the lockdown, the labourer was stranded in Puttur. Since he had been complaining of a headache for the past two days, he was tested on Tuesday. On realising that he tested positive, he immediately escaped from the testing centre. The officials there tried hard to find him, but in vain.

Kansas Cityâs Surprising Connection to Japanese Internment Camps
Understanding History During âA Very Turbulent Moment Right Nowâ
In the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor, anti-Japanese hysteria gripped the United States.
Early in World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 commanding that âall persons of Japanese ancestryâ be moved into internment camps.
The U.S. the government called them âassembly centers.â But some historians now believe that âconcentration campsâ might have been more accurate.
Although there werenât any camps in the Midwest, a small group of college-aged Japanese American students from internment camps landed at Park College in 1942.

Chhattisgarh Lockdown: Liquor home delivery allowed through online sale from May 10. Check Details
The Chhattisgarh government has allowed home delivery of liquor in the state through online sale during the ongoing coronavirus-enforced lockdown, officials said on Sunday.
The opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh criticised the ruling Congress over the decision, claiming that it seems the state government s priority was to provide liquor to people instead of medical facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The state commercial taxes department in an order on Saturday gave permission to the excise commissioner to allow home delivery of liquor through online orders, officials said.
Highlights
Consumers have to place their orders via the government’s app.
Home delivery shops have been determined by Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited.
Keeping in view the rising Covid-19 cases amid the second wave of the pandemic, most states across the country are living under lockdown. In this situation, guzzlers are facing difficulties in buying liquor, as all retail shops, except essentials, are completely shut.
However, the shut down is leading to a severe loss in excise taxes for states governments, along with causing the menace of smuggling of adulterated liquor. Just a few days, nine people lost their lives after drinking alcohol-based homoeopathy syrup in Chattisgarh.
